Privacy Policy

Last updated 21 May, 2026

Welcome to LoudScript, built by Ho Ye Lam ("LoudScript", "Kin-Yee", "we", "us", or "our"). This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you use the LoudScript website and the LoudScript apps for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS.

Analytics and Diagnostics

LoudScript uses limited analytics and diagnostics to understand whether the website and apps are working well. The LoudScript website uses Plausible Analytics for aggregate website statistics, such as page views, referrers, browser or device type, and country-level location.

LoudScript apps may use Mixpanel for pseudonymous product analytics. App analytics can include information such as app version, build number, bundle identifier, locale, onboarding status, feature interactions, selected speech engine, selected voice identifier, speech rate, read source category, text length, spoken text length, whether formatting was applied, and playback timing. We do not send raw speech text, OCR output, source app names, or source app bundle identifiers to Mixpanel. The macOS app sends Mixpanel events to Mixpanel's EU endpoint and disables IP-address geolocation. For more information about Mixpanel's privacy practices, you can read Mixpanel's Privacy Policy.

LoudScript apps may use Sentry for crash and error diagnostics when configured. Diagnostic reports can include technical information such as app version, operating system, device model, stack traces, and error context. We configure Sentry not to send default personally identifiable information, and we do not intentionally include raw speech text, OCR output, or source app identity in diagnostic reports.

Local Content and Storage

LoudScript is designed to keep your reading content local unless a feature you enable needs network processing. On macOS, speech history is stored on your device and can include the original text, the formatted or spoken version, creation date, source app name and bundle identifier when available, trigger source, character count, selected voice identifier, speech rate, and formatting status. You can delete individual history items or clear history from the app.

Screenshot OCR on macOS uses a temporary screenshot file for the selected screen area. The app deletes that temporary capture after OCR finishes or fails. When direct selected-text reading is unavailable, the app may temporarily use the clipboard by simulating Copy, reading the copied text, and restoring the previous clipboard contents when possible.

LoudScript may write local runtime logs for troubleshooting. These logs are stored on your device and can include technical metadata and short text previews. We do not receive these logs automatically, but you may choose to share them with support. Optional Supertonic voice model files are stored locally after installation and can be removed from the app.

Third-Party AI Processing

LoudScript may offer AI-assisted features, including AI formatting before speech. When AI formatting is enabled and available, the text being formatted may be sent to OpenRouter and the selected downstream model provider so the text can be rewritten for clearer display and more natural speech. This does not happen when AI formatting is disabled, unavailable, or skipped by the app's formatting rules.

Text sent for AI formatting is transmitted for the purpose of providing the requested formatting result. LoudScript does not claim ownership of your text. Third-party AI providers may process, store, or retain requests according to their own policies, which are outside our direct control. Avoid using AI features with sensitive, confidential, legally protected, or private text unless you are comfortable with that text being processed by third-party AI services.

Network Services

LoudScript may contact third-party services to provide downloads, updates, purchases, and app functionality. On macOS, Sparkle checks the LoudScript appcast for updates and may download app updates from our public release hosting. Optional Supertonic model installation downloads model files from Hugging Face or another configured model host. LoudScript downloads and website releases may be hosted through GitHub. On iOS and iPadOS, subscriptions and purchases are handled through Apple's App Store systems.

Use of Collected Information

We use collected information to operate LoudScript, provide features you request, understand usage trends, diagnose crashes and errors, improve performance and stability, provide customer support, process purchases or subscriptions where available, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers when necessary to operate LoudScript, with your direction or consent, or when required to comply with law, protect rights and safety, prevent abuse, defend against legal claims, or complete a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

International Transfers of Information

Your information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country where you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may apply to your data depending on where it is processed or stored.

Updates to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Revised" date and will be effective immediately upon being accessible. If we make significant changes, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this policy often to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.

By using our site or apps, you acknowledge this privacy policy and the processing described here. Some features, such as AI formatting, screen capture, accessibility access, optional model downloads, diagnostics, analytics, and subscriptions, may depend on your device settings, app settings, platform permissions, or purchase choices.
